| There's a story in today's Commercial Appeal that strikes a sad note for those who enjoyed Libertyland and the Zippin Pippin. City and county officials unveiled a historical marker commerating the eighty years the Pippin provided thrills for visitors to Memphis. As a friend of mine observed, "It's like a tombstone." |

Re: Many new photos and stories on the website.
Your webmaster and Dave French T’69, have been doing extensive research to verify and document the history and events leading up to the founding of Tech. Our results can be found in the early years on the ROSTERS page. You may be surprised at some of our findings. For example, have you ever heard of LEATH HIGH SCHOOL? It was the only public high school in Memphis from 1892 up until the Poplar Ave "Castle School" opened in 1898.
Tech Historian Rob Jolly has recently learned to scan and now he’s joined Dave and Gene in researching/documenting this history. Rob has begun scanning a lot of his memorabilia collection and the new photos/articles are being fed into the website at the appropriate places. This will be an on-going process.
Plus new stories have been added to the Blue and Gold Buzz section of the website.

| Thanks to everyone who worked so hard in order for the rest of us to have such a wonderful time. It meant so much to me to see many familiar faces, and even some I may not have remembered. It gave me a reason to get out the year books and go back through them again and jog my memory. Everyone has their own unique feelings and memories of what their particular lives were like during their time at Tech. Some may have had miserable home lives (so school was a blessing), or some may have absolutely hated school and couldn't wait for it to be over. Whatever it was, most of us have fond memories of others who touched our lives. To those of you who at that time made my life easier and better, I thank you and will never forget you. There were many who didn't make it to the reunion that I would have loved to have seen. Of course, there are so many of our classmates who have gone on to a much better place and we will always have them in our hearts. | I should have graduated in 69, but quit school to marry my high school sweetheart; Ronnie VanVelsor. Unfortunately, our marriage didn't last nearly as long as we thought it would. However, we did get 3 fabulous sons out of the deal. Ronnie passed away in April of 2006. A sad day for all of us. John Lewis Gideon told me today about this web site and I have had a blast looking through old pictures in yearbooks and reading everyone's comments on here. | It was a great honor to be invited to attend the Tech Seven events this weekend. My compliments go to the committee that planned and carried out the reunion so gracefully. Some people had flown long distances and some had driven many miles. Faculty and alumni shared memories, talked about children and grandchildren, compared symptoms, discussed hobbies, and promised to stay in touch. We remembered those we had lost from both the faculty and student body. It was amazing to recall how many siblings had attended Tech over the years. Tech High was truly a nurturing school that people are proud to have attended and where faculty are proud to have served. |

One half of our reunion is now Tech history!!!!!
We had a great time remembering things about our past school years. Over 125 people came last night and had Corky's food and Tech fellowship. Pat Malone did an excellent job as chairperson, David French and Buster Pearson were funny and articulate master of ceremonies and Coach Wright sang two songs with a voice as strong as ever. Ms. Elliot, Mr. Baker and Ms. Norwood all looked as great as in our school days. Please update your info on this web site often so we can see you at the next reunion or at one of the three times we are going to try to meet each year in the future.
