I always read the obituaries and I hope everyone does.
Thomas Wilber Kitchens passed away February 6, 2010. Services will be Saturday February 13, 2010 at Forest Hill South.
Not only did Thomas attend Tech but his brother Leroy was Tech '54, his brother Bobby was Tech '56, and his sister Mary Jane was Tech '60.
I wonder if anyone knows if this family once lived in the Hollywood Community and attended Hollywood Junior High School. If so I went there with their little brother "Andy". |

| Not to worry Louise! Your class my have not been the worst after all! I was at Tech in 1972, and I feel as though I owe apologies to most of my teachers for acting like a fool and being such a poor student; especially Mrs. Stamper (who once told our English class that we were the most misearable examples of students she ever saw!) and Ms Shinault (my homeroom teacher), Mr. Marsh (for putting up with our crazy music we would play in Music Appreciation class), Mr. Jobe Walker (what a Saint and mentor he was!), and Mrs. Ruth Campbell (who I am sure I disrespected in History class). Bless all of them for their efforts in reaching out and trying to connect and make a difference! They never gave up, and as I look back on that experience, that is one lesson I won't forget! |

| Great website! After 40 years in higher ed administration I retired in 2008. I have continued my consulting work for the Association of Governing Boards. In 2000 I became President Emeritus and Regents Professor of Eastern Michigan University after 11 years as president. My most enjoyable experience at Tech was playing the lead in "Love is in the Air" (and shortly thereafter being kicked out of speech class for my ab-libbing). My greatest academic achievement at tech--winning the senior Enlish award. I think it was the only academic honor that Roland Pittman did not win that year. That dude was (and still is) super intelligent! Would enjoy hearing from any classmates. I chased my career all over the midwest and now live in Greenville, NC. |

| Ms Elliot what ever happen to Mr Tate. He was my homeroom Teacher. Mr Rodgers was my best buddy and Teacher. He got me out of english many time to work on that organ we put in the auditorium at Tech. This did not help my english grades,as you can most likely can tell, but I loved it anyway. |

| Regarding Danny Boyd's comments about never seeing fellow 1967 classmates checking in on the site. Well Danny, someone has to begin the process of looking for one, then another. Soon it takes on a life of it's own. If you haven't noticed, the 1967 Class contact person is not even from your class. It is Rob Jolly, Class President from 1970. If you are interested in taking on that role, I will be glad to assist you with information on locating fellow classmates. | Today's Viewpoint section of the Commercial Appeal has an article on local school security, including a huge photo of the first floor corridor and office area of Northwest Prep, once our beloved Tech. Grads who haven't been inside the building in years will recognize the territory, virtually unchanged from the old days. It's a testament to the structural integrity of this great old building that it is still fulfilling its purpose in a new life. |
