Curtis DeWayne Phillipy of Memphis, passed from this life on October 25, 2009. He was born on March 5, 1934 to O. R. and Audrey Brown Phillipy. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and owned and operated a successful insurance business for many years. He enjoyed several hobbies, including hunting, fishing, and UT football. He was especially proud of being a private pilot with 5,000 hours of flying time. DeWayne was a longtime member of Grace St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. DeWayne is survived by his children: Linda Phillipy, Lee Phillipy, Mary Audrey and (Timothy) Cook, and Curtis and (Donna) Phillipy. He also leaves five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Ralph K. and Edwin Phillipy. Dewayne is predeceased by his parents, O.R. and Audrey Phillipy and a brother, Edward Phillipy. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-12 noon on Thursday, October 29, at Grace St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with a memorial service to follow at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Grace St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Memorial Park Funeral Home
