WILLIAM
C. DIEHL 78, died on Tuesday, May 26, 2009. Bill was a Senior
Customer Service Agent for Delta Airlines for 37 years before
he retired. He was very active in the Delta Pro Team which
promoted the airline. Bill was a former scout leader and loved
working with young people. He went to work as a bass player
for Curly Williams and the Georgia Peach Pickers after
graduating from Tech High School in 1949. The western swing
band made appearances in the South including The Grand Ole
Opry and Louisiana Hayride and recorded with Capital Records.
After playing with Curly, Bill joined the U.S. Air Force. He
is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty M. Diehl, son,
William Alan Diehl and daughter, Christy Atkinson, and
grandchildren, Stacey and Garrett Atkinson. Visitation will be
held on Friday, May 29 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. with funeral
services beginning at 2:30 p.m. Interment to follow at
Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Asbury UMC or
