JAN CRAIG, 71, died Sunday, April 16, 2006 at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis. He was a retired teacher and coach, spending his entire career in the Memphis City School System. Jan was a graduate of Tech High School, where he excelled in football. In 1952, he was named to the Press-Scimitar's ""All Memphis" football team, both on offense and defense. The same year, he was named "Outstanding Football Player of the Year" in the Memphis Prep League by the Big Ten Club of Memphis. He leaves his wife of 24 years, Daphine Denley Craig of Olive Branch; a brother, Davis Craig of Germantown, and a host of nieces and nephews. Jan was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Nettye Davis Craig, and his beloved sister, Nancy Craig Lemay. He was a member of Colonial Baptist Church in Memphis. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 at Memorial Park Funeral Home with memorial services to follow.
